Architectural eco home design

Award winning eco home design utilising a lightweight structural steel portal frame. Steel was predominantly chosen for a cost effective and environmentally friendly alternative to a conventional masonry construction system.

The steel portal framing system enabled impressive span capabilities which inherently provided large open plan living areas and creating the mainstay for architectural features such unobstructed clerestory windows and cantilevered roof lines. The home boasts the structural steel as a feature leaving exposed structural steel members as a aesthetic feature in this contemporary modern home.

The beautifully designed bio-climatic home radiates natural lighting throughout, which spills in through a myriad of tall louver windows and from the full-width clerestory windows above, onto a stunning satin T&G floor.

The long narrow eco home design is also a conduit for enhancing this remarkable passive design with opening strategically placed to maximise the natural cross flow of cooling breezes throughout the home, in turn greatly reducing the need for active cooling systems.

Externally the home is cladded on a 90mm timber frame with Hardieflex™ sheeting a flat fibre reinforced cement sheet which creates a flat panel look, with LYSAGHT CUSTOM ORB®. In combination this well-insulated lightweight external wall system responds quickly to cooling breezes, fantastic choice for our hot humid tropical summers.
